David L. Becker, MD

David L. Becker, MD is from Fort Wayne, Indiana.  He completed his undergraduate training at Taylor University in Upland, Indiana and then earned his medical degree from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX.  Dr. Becker did both his family practice residency and primary care sports medicine fellowship through the Kanawha Valley Family Practice Residency Program affiliated with the West Virginia University Department of Family Medicine and Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, West Virginia.  During this time, he was team physician for Nitro High School, West Virginia Tech and West Virginia State College.

Dr. Becker then relocated to Plano, Texas where he was a founding member of Plano Family Practice and Sports Medicine.  Over the next twelve years, he helped create a successful family medicine practice and more recently collaborated with local physician leaders to establish community based ancillary services.  He also continued to serve Prestonwood Christian Academy as team physician and present primary care sports medicine topics at conferences and meetings in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

In an effort to promote the role of  primary care sports and family medicine, Dr. Becker relocated to Wake Forest, North Carolina, July 2009, to join forces with Carolina Family Practice & Sports Medicine.  He is team physician at North Raleigh Christian Academy and also hopes to focus on the special needs and disabled athletic population.

He is married to Michelle and they have three children:  Meg, Garrett and Elizabeth.  Dr. Becker enjoys spending time with his family, serving at church, household projects, landscaping, wood-working, photography and just about any sport.
