Aaron Leininger, MD

Dr. Leininger will begin with our practice in August 2010. 

Dr. Aaron Leininger, MD went to medical school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before completing his Family Practice Residency and Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, NC.  During residency Dr. Leininger received awards for scholarship and research excellence.  He was recognized for leadership in his sports medicine fellowship by the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM).  He has presented multiple research projects and cases at the AMSSM’s Annual International Meeting. Dr. Leininger has stayed active with the AMSSM by offering several sports medicine and musculoskeletal ultrasound presentations for residents, medical students, athletic trainers, and undergraduate students.

Prior to medical school, Dr. Leininger attended Clemson University where he stayed active in engineering competitions and participated as a walk-on for the university soccer team. He is still an avid fan of his alma mater frequently returning to Clemson, SC as a fan for home football games with his friends and family.

His medical interests include:  Family Medicine, running-related injuries/custom shoe orthotic fabrication, musculoskeletal ultrasound, ultrasound-guided injection, and teaching.

Dr. Leininger is married to Lara, a nurse. They have a young son and two mixed-breed dogs.  He enjoys triathlons, soccer, kayaking, skiing, disc golf, video games, and generally spending time with his family and friends.
