Carolina Family Practice & Sports Medicine (CFP&SM) is a six physician medical practice located in the Preston area of Cary, North Carolina. Although the practice opened the doors on its current location in July 2003, it was originally formed in 1995 as Rex Family Practice of Cary - owned and operated by Rex Primary Care. We are a unique practice in that all of our physicians are board certified in Family Practice AND Sports Medicine. To our knowledge, we are the only practice in the United States in which all of our physicians have certification in both of these specialties.
The core service of CFP&SM is to provide high quality primary care to infants, children, and adults in Wake County. We consider family medicine the cornerstone of healthcare and pride ourselves in providing comprehensive acute, chronic, and preventive care to patients of all ages. This includes management of many disease states such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, heart disease, thyroid disease, depression, anxiety, and others, as well as performing complete physical exams on males and females of all ages.
Our sports medicine care targets athletes of all ages and skill levels, from professional athletes to weekend warriors. CFP&SM provides a broad spectrum of sports medicine services including: treatment of acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries, management of medical problems in athletes (e.g. asthma, diabetes, heart disease, etc), education regarding injury prevention and performance enhancement, pre-participation screenings and physical exams, and coverage of a multitude of sporting events. These services are provided at the primary office location and sites throughout Wake County. It is important to note that although all of our physicians are fellowship trained in sports medicine, we are not surgeons. If surgery is indicated, we work closely with a variety of surgical colleagues in the area.
