Dr. Blount grew up in Edenton, NC, a beautiful little historic town on the Albemarle Sound in eastern North Carolina. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for his undergraduate training and then medical school at Wake Forest University. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. He subsequently completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine through the Moses Cone Family Medicine Program in Greensboro, NC during which he served as an assistant team physician for Elon University. Upon completion of his training, he moved to Cary, NC and helped start Carolina Family Practice & Sports Medicine.
Dr. Blount serves as the team physician for Wakefield High School and Impact Athletics. He teaches family medicine residents as an Affiliate Faculty with the UNC Family Medicine Department and periodically presents or lectures at national, regional, and local conferences on various sports medicine topics.
He is married to Kelly Blount, a physician assistant working in dermatology. They have one daughter, Mckenna, and are thoroughly enjoying being parents. Dr. Blount enjoys spending time with his family, playing basketball, playing tennis, skiing, and most anything related to the Tar Heels.
